About Me:
Hello! My name is Mihretu Dessalegne. I love taking a Person-Centered approach to
counseling, while providing psychoeducation and interventions from Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy (CBT). I’m also becoming more curious about using art as a way of self-expression for
clients who are interested.
I have worked with individuals, couples, and families of different cultural backgrounds and
ethnicities, and have worked with those who have experienced the following:
I love working with clients as young as 11-18, as well as young adults up into their 30s. My
experience working with clients has exceeded this range however, and I am more than happy to
work with any age group.
Education & Experience:
In 2015 I graduated from George Fox University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and
minor in Sociology, and in 2019 I graduated from George Fox University’s Graduate School of
Counseling with a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling. I am a Licensed Professional
Counselor (LPC), licensed in the State of Oregon.
Philosophy
Life has taught me that what you believe shapes your path in life - whether those beliefs are true
or not. Because of this, I believe that knowing the truth about your own life is critical and
essential to living a truly fulfilling life. As your therapist, I am honored and eager to join you in
your journey of knowing who you are in self-discovery. I believe it’s essential to visit the past to
see how it has affected your view of the present, so that we can intentionally adjust it to a future
that accurately reflects your worth and purpose.
Personal Life
I love writing songs and making music. I fell in love with the piano when I was 9, and not too
long ago got into singing and playing the guitar. This has been a huge part of my life; I don’t
know where I would be without it.
